Founder Yoshihisa Nakano’s Profile, March 2025

Born in 1944.
After working for Isetan, he transferred to the women's clothing specialty store Suzuya in 1972 and was appointed as the company's representative director and senior managing director. From 1969 to the late 1980s, he worked for Isetan and its subsidiaries, such as Mamina, while also traveling between Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, and New York for Suzuya. After leaving the company, he moved to Taiwan in 1991 and became the representative of the department store division of the China Rebar Co.. In 2002, he became the special advisor to the chairman of the Far Eastern Group and the COO of the Ya Tung Department Store and has also held the position of special advisor at several other companies. He has over 40 years of experience as a member of the management team at overseas companies.

In 2011, he was appointed President and CEO of Terada Warehouse. While running the company at its headquarters in Tennozu Isle, Shinagawa, he transformed the atmosphere of the surrounding area into one rich in art and culture; he left the company in 2019.

Since 2015, he has been serving as an advisor to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on international policy.

In 2018, he received the “Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage” Award. In the same year, he established the Eastern Culture Foundation and became its representative director, a position he still holds today. He continues to work towards the understanding and development of Eastern culture, aiming to foster a sense of trust that transcends regions and national borders.

In August 2021, he took on the position of CEO of ACAO SPA & RESORT, a company which had 12 billion yen in debt and 3.8 billion yen in excess liabilities at the time of his appointment. He sold off the hotel business, which had been the mainstay of the company, and shifted the business to the resort and real estate businesses. It is expected that 48% of the loan will be repaid in approximately two years and that 75% of the loan will be repaid through the sale of real estate. After restructuring the company, he entrusted the helm to the younger generation and retired on September 14, 2024; the company’s future is bright. Moreover, the local revitalization programs and events centered on art, education, and the utilization of vacant spaces that he introduced in Atami City in the summer of 2021 are ongoing and continue to create new value for the region.

On a personal note, his passion is traveling, and he has visited over 100 countries.
